Email from Mac Malloy, Agriculture Agent – Field Crops

I have attached the yield and fiber quality results from the 2015 On-farm Cotton Variety Evaluation Program led by Dr. Guy Collins.  In addition to yield, fiber quality is an important component to the value and marketability of cotton in our state, and should be considered when selecting varieties.

Results from the on-farm program along with OVT results will be discussed in much greater detail during the upcoming winter production meeting scheduled for 5 PM, January 26, at the Hoke Robeson Gin. As Dr. Collins has said, we want to again reiterate our appreciation to the NC Cotton Producers Association, other leadership organizations (NCDA&CS, NC State University, Cotton Incorporated, NC Ag Foundation), and Seed Companies for their efforts and support in starting this program for the benefit of all NC cotton growers.  A huge thanks to Walton Farms of Lumber Bridge for all their hard work serving as the 2015 cooperator!
