Seed Conditioning
Cashwell and Jones, Harvey's seed conditioning plant in Mt. Olive, turns wheat and soybean crops into planting seed. We condition for some of the largest names in the seed business, and every bag of AP Seed wheat and soybeans runs through the same plant.
From crop to seed
Conditioning is everything between the field and the bag. Trash, splits, weed seed, and off-size grain come out, and what remains is graded uniform, so it meters evenly through a planter and comes up as the stand it was sold to be. Seed companies hold that work to a tighter standard than any other grain handling, and we run every lot to it, theirs and ours. Coating seed with protection is a separate step, seed treatment, which Harvey's offers as well.
Grown here, by growers like you
The seed itself is raised in eastern North Carolina. Cashwell and Jones contracts with local growers to produce seed wheat and soybeans, so a crop from ground a few counties away ends up in bags planted across the region. If you have the ground and the management to grow a seed crop, there is a place for you in the program. Talk to us about contract seed production.
